Lucy Escobar
Founder & Executive Director
Lucy Escobar is the Founder and Executive Director of Feria del Libro Oregon Book Fair and CEO of Lucy Escobar Coaching & Consulting LLC. She is a bilingual author, leadership advisor, and dedicated advocate for her community with more than 25 years of experience supporting entrepreneurs, educators, nonprofits, and Latinx families across Oregon. Lucy is the author of the Spanish-language books Atrévete a Ser una Mujer Exitosa and El Arte de la Realización Personal. Her work is deeply rooted in advancing literacy, leadership, cultural representation, and educational opportunities that empower individuals, families, and future generations.
What inspired her to create Feria del Libro: “I saw a need for more spaces that celebrate Latino authors, bilingual voices, and diverse stories. Literature has the power to connect generations, preserve culture, inspire dreams, and expand how children see themselves and the world around them. I wanted to build a community-centered platform where families, children, educators, and writers could come together to celebrate literacy, identity, leadership, and the transformative power of education.”
Mildred Lopez
Treasurer & Communications Director
Mildred Lopez is the Treasurer and Communications Director of Feria del Libro Oregon Book Fair and Cofounder of Early Start Preschool & Childcare Center. At the fair she leads hands-on workshops for young readers, from creating a first little book to designing bookmarks and coloring activities that make learning playful.

Ana Ruiz Morillo
Secretary
Originally from the Dominican Republic, Ana Ruiz Morillo is the Founder and Director of Training To Impact LLC, a community-based consulting and training organization focused on culturally responsive facilitation, education, and community engagement. She has worked in community outreach, higher education, facilitation, and literacy-focused initiatives across Oregon, including Multnomah County Library’s “We Speak Your Language” initiative, and serves as adjunct faculty at Pacific University School of Social Work. Her commitment to literacy has been recognized nationally through the Día Dynamo recognition by Pat Mora.
What inspired her to join: “The opportunity to help create spaces where families and communities can see themselves reflected in books, stories, and educational opportunities. I deeply believe that books can open doors, strengthen cultural pride, and help people feel connected and empowered.”
Sofia Baum
Fund Development Director
Sofia Baum is the Fund Development Director of Feria del Libro Oregon Book Fair and is originally from Junction City, a small rural community in Oregon. She earned dual degrees in Business Administration and Sustainability from Oregon State University and has since supported nonprofit organizations across Oregon through fundraising strategy, organizational development, and strategic planning. Sofia brings a long-term, systems-oriented approach to ensuring the fair has the sustainable support it needs to thrive.
What inspired her to join: “Feria del Libro represents the kind of space I wish I had growing up. As a multiracial Latina learning Spanish as an adult, being in community and engaging with multilingual literacy, art, and culture feels deeply meaningful. It’s a healing, community-centered space, one that feels truly special to share with my family.”
Alma R. Cervantes
Board Member
Alma R. Cervantes is originally from Baja California, Mexico. A mother of five and grandmother of seven, she is an accountant by profession with more than 20 years of experience supporting the Latino community with their accounting and finances.
What inspired her to join: seeing her own children’s passion for reading, a love their teachers instilled in them, and wanting that same passion to continue in new generations. “The more educated we are, the better life goes for us.”
Kathryn López Resto
Board Member & Marketing Specialist
Kathryn López Resto is the Founder & CEO of LeLo Consulting, a marketing and business-growth agency that helps organizations strengthen their foundations and amplify their impact. She also serves as Co-Founder and Executive Director of Empower Youth Latinx (EYL), a nonprofit dedicated to advancing bilingual literacy, leadership development, and cultural pride among Latinx youth, and is the author of Soy Auténtica.
What inspired her to join: “Feria del Libro reflects so much of the work I’m passionate about, creating spaces where culture, language, and identity are celebrated through literacy. It brings community together around books that honor our experiences. I wanted to be part of something that not only promotes literacy, but also uplifts and affirms who we are.”
